Where It Started
HunterSmith was founded by Paul Smith — an entrepreneur who spent years building and running a successful bakkie conversion business in New Zealand. After selling that business, Paul saw a clear gap in the South African market and decided to bring the concept home.
In Australia and New Zealand, modular bakkie conversions are a massive, well-established industry. Tradesmen, farmers and commercial fleets rely on purpose-built tray systems, canopies and toolbox configurations to get the job done. In South Africa, that market barely exists.
HunterSmith is changing that. We’re building South Africa’s first purpose-built, fully modular work bakkie conversion system — designed from the ground up for the demands of local trades, local farms and local business.
